Born and raised in NYC, Stephanie Kay aspired to be a painter even in the wee years of her childhood coveting the paper grocery bags her mother brought home from the market so she could draw on their large surfaces. The materials have changed but her passion has not.

Kay received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees at Boston University followed by several years teaching there and at the Art Institute of Boston at Leslie College and Boston College, Catholic University and the Washington Studio School.

She relocated to Washington DC in 2004 and lives with her husband, appellate attorney turned fitness professional/author Jeffrey Horowitz, and son, Alex, a 5th grader who published his own book entitled Center of the Storm. She maintains a studio, exhibits her work and teaches art in DC Public Schools.
